Book: If I Stay – Gayle Forman

“I’m pondering going back to bed,” I say. “My cello’s”

I was walking down a road and my eyes focused on a cello.

In the back of an alley broken and alone,

yet so beautiful, it called me to take it home.

I went down the alley and stood in front of the piece, that reminds me; of me.

Still pondering what to do, but knowing what I would want someone else to do, I stopped thinking and decided to choose.

Take it home I must and repair each part from toe to the head.

I reached my home and placed the cello on my bed.

Each day taking time to fix something new and rejoicing  I decided to fix it after thinking it through.

I finally finish my masterpiece and I can almost hear her say, thanks for repairing me.

I look down happy and sadden, because I’m waiting for the day that someone shows me this same compassion, even in small rations.
