Hopeful

In my mind, there is no doubt.

It’s waiting to be let out.

It wants to grow happy and free.

The hope that you care for me.

That you see me as more than a friend.

And I can’t wait till then.

But now I don’t know what you feel or where we stand,

So I guess I’ll just pretend.

Act like if I don’t want to hold your hand.

Or go to concerts by your favorite band.

Feign that your laugh doesn’t make me smile

That our conversations don’t intrigue my brain.

Fool you to think that all I want, is to be your friend.

But when I get there, what then?

I’ll put on the perfect show of what friendship should be.

Until hopefully one day you’ll want me,

And these thoughts can be set free.
