Day 2
Write a poem that takes the form of a family portrait. You could write, for example, a stanza for each member of your family. You could also find an actual snapshot of your family and write a poem about it, spending a little bit of time on each person in the picture. You don’t need to observe any particular form or meter.

We all seem so normal but we’re all a little odd.
A little different from the world and from each other.
My father always so quiet, but his spirit is so loud.
My mother spirit, soul, mind, mouth; everything so loud.
Not a still bone in her body.
Two tall figures that boss around, almost never cause smiles, only frowns.
Everything is up, everything is down.
I go round and round.
A short figure, short but fierce,
also loud but also real.
The perfect family, at least in pictures.
Obsessed with scriptures, maybe one,
maybe both, at this point who knows.
The perfect frame, but it’s broken, what a shame.
