How hard it’s become to walk away

and for reasons unknown, we choose to stay.

Day after day settling for things we do not want,

because we’re too afraid to hit re-start.

Hoping for changes that never occur,

allowing pain and troubles to recur.

We chain ourselves down and let ourselves drown.

Accepting each breakdown

because we want someone around.

As steps become harder,

words turn sadder.

The inevitable transpires,

and worlds are overtaken by fire.
